Today, science is treated as the biggest mentor of the mankind, and indeed it is, for the fruits of development and advancement of scientific disciplines are simply undeniable and inevitable to be used by humanity. However, exalting science to the level of Allah Almighty, the ultimate power Who carved out all the intricacies of this complex and adorable universe, is like deeming an artifact above the artist who created.

We know Albert Einstein as the most brilliant minds the world of science has ever science, but what once he said could be interpreted as that science is lame without religion. Though science and religion have always been treated differently, but isn’t it amazing that there is a religion that treats science very much as one of its basic elements. Do you know which religion is that?

Well, to utter surprise of many a mind, Islam is that unique and exalted religion, with Qur’an as historic evidence to all these claims, a document that Allah dignifies by declaring exclusively to Him. Now, Quran holds many statements of absolutely true scientific knowledge, which seems impossible to have known to any human 1400 years ago, for example:

“Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the benefit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth — (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:164)

Well, this is just one dignified example, only serving to give a hint about the kind of scientific information presented by Qur’an more than 14 centuries ago. There are many more examples like these covering almost all major disciplines of science, such as astronomy, biology, mathematics, etc. Discussed below are just a few examples:

  • The Holy Quran contains plenty of content describing astronomical truths that have only been verified by technological development of much recent times. According to modern science, the origin of the world are traced back to “The Big Bang” theory, which is cited more logically and authoritatively in chapter 21, verse 30 of Quran. Now, keep the fact in mind that this is not a result of a scientific research, but it is mentioned in a book 1400 plus years old. Don’t you find that to be too much of a coincidence?
  • The formation of galaxies is one of the most complex academic concerns of scientist even in this scientifically evolved period of time. However, Quran learning explains such origins in much better manner in verse 11 of chapter 41, using an Arabic word “Dukhaan”, very much representing the smoky celestial material modern science confirms responsible in formation of galaxies. Is it a coincidence yet again?

Conclusion

Well, these are just a couple of examples, Qur’an invites people to explore not only the knowledge mentioned in it, but also to explore and contemplate on countless signs of presence of The Mighty Allah, scattered all around us in this wide universe.
